We have just launched a completely new training course – a 5-day multi-disciplinary field trip to Ainsa in the Spanish Pyrenees!
Decision analysis is a multi-discipline subject field where the results from the detailed work performed by each discipline are brought together – with the purpose of bringing insight to the decision situation. Communication across disciplinary boundaries is critical. Team members need to appreciate how their respective contributions are interlinked and how collaboration is required to fully exploit their collective competencies and experiences. For oil and gas projects, a common understanding of the geological basis is required before proceeding with any type of evaluation. The project team must therefore, as a starting point, be able to comprehend the unique challenges different geological environments may represent.
This 5-day trip is organised to emulate a real life multi-disciplinary work setting where we have particular focus on how the characteristics of different depositional environments – and the uncertainties related to geological interpretation and modelling – is the basis for a field development plan. We bring participants to the Ainsa basin in the Spanish Pyrenees where we observe geological structures similar to those of the world’s largest hydrocarbon producing regions. This is one of a few unique locations in the world where the interaction of deep-water, shallow water to coastal and fluvial deposits, in a compressional tectonically system, can be studied in detail and in three dimensions. We spend significant time out in the field to explore different analogues and to discuss aspects that would influence on the technical and economic evaluation of a field development case.
This field trip is highly relevant for all professional disciplines involved in the evaluation of oil and gas projects, where a feel for the actual geological complexities and physical scale is required as basis for high-quality decision analysis and development plans. The course can also be customised to suit your business area specifically and can also be arranged for petech teams or asset teams with particular focus on relevant challenges.
The first field trip will be arranged on 30th May – 3th June 2016. A basic understanding of decision analysis methodology and practice is necessary, and it is recommended to complete S01 – Decision analysis before this field trip. The next S01-Decision analysis course is due 28-29th January 2016 in Oslo.
Check out the training calendar to see available dates for all of our courses throughout 2016.
We hope to see you in Spain this spring!
